Conflict and Resolution

The book I am reading now is called "Speak" by.  Laurie Halse Anderson. In this book there is a girl named Melinda. Melinda is a quiet, misunderstood girl that has no trust in anyone. Through this book Melinda goes through a situation that she will never forget. It starts out as a great time, her friends by her side, everyone having fun until a couple of drinks get swallowed. Everything seemed to be a blur to Melinda after that all she could really remember is some drinks, a cute boy, a quick 911 call,  then an upset, violated walk home alone. The conflict of this story is person vs. society because Melinda's 911 call didn't just affect her but everyone of her friends, and the guests at the party. They all end up getting busted, Melinda's friends would never forgive her after that phone call that got everyone in trouble. Now everyday Melinda's "Friends" constantly tease, bully, and harass her at school.

Towards the end of the book the conflict gets resolved by Melinda telling all of her friends what happened at that horrifying night. They couldn't believe what had happened to her, there eyes grew wide and so did they mouths. They asked many questions that Melinda didn't feel very comfortable answering. They never gave Melinda the chance to explain why calling the cops was needed. Her friends ended up understanding, and forgave her for calling the cops.
