School Bites

 Authors note: This is an essay about a book called  Before You Fall  In this essay I am going to tell about how trust is important to have with someone you are close to.

Middle school really stinks for thirteen year old Vlad Tod. No parents, bullies harass him daily, the principal is watching his every move, and the girl he really likes has no feelings for him. However, the worst part is Vlad has to hide the fact that he's a vampire. In this amazing story the author will show the readers how Vlad changes through this book.

Vlad is like a half tween half vampire, he goes to school, plays video games, and has terribly hard homework like every other kid at his school. He also is a very different person inside and out. Eating, and drinking nothing but blood, having fangs that are able to pop out at any moment of the day. And having the ability to fly. He also has very pale skin with incredibly dark features, his bullies make fun of him for that. They call Vlad “Goth boy” or “Gothic god”. Vlad just ignores there meaningless names they call him.

Trust is a big part in this story Vlad has to trust certain people to stay safe from his psycho substitute teacher Mr. Otis. Mr. Otis is substituting for the whole year because of a strange disappearance of there old teacher Mr. Craig. Vlad is very uncertain about Mr. Otis in the beginning of the story. His teaching skills were very odd, his old top hats and outfits looking like he was from the 1800’s. On the other-hand he is able to trust his closest friend Henry, and his Aunt Nelly, who he has lived with almost his whole life.
   
This book relates to my life by me coming to the Pewaukee schools. I didn’t know what to expect of new friends and the unknown, but as I started making new friends I found out who I could trust and who I couldn’t. Another reason is that some of the teachers when I first came to this school were kind of scary at first, when I got to know them better they were very nice.

In this book it shows how Vlad Tod changes through this book, at the end of the book he ends up finding his parents, and the missing teacher Mr. Craig captive by Mr.Otis. Having a better attitude with people around him, and lastly finding the courage to tell the girl he likes how he feels.

Before "You" Fall

 Authors note: This is a essay about my book Before I Fall I am writing about this book to remind certain people, to stop following people that are a bad influences. Also to tell people to respect them selves.

    If you kept dying and  repeating one day over and over again, what would you do differently? Well, in my book Before I Fall, the main character Sammy has to repeat Friday over until she can understand that following friends, that make bad decisions like drinking, smoking is not what she needs to do to be successful in life. Sammy’s friends smoke, drink, and one day when they drank a little to much, and they got into a car crash and died. Then Sammy woke up, she woke up the same day in her same bed, she thought it was a dream.

    In this book revenge is a big part in the story, whenever Sammy and her friends get into a situation where, they need to hurt some one's feelings for revenge they will. A situation in the book that revenge takes part of is when Sammy and her friends go to party, a girl goes up to them and tells them how she feels, they get angry and they start a fight. The girls push her around call her names and throw there drinks at her, she leaves embarrassed and angry.  Revenge is never the answer, when it comes to hurting other people for you to laugh and have fun.    

    The main character in this amazing story is Sammy, Sammy is a follower she could never be a leader as she says. She doesn’t have a lot of knowledge about what’s right or wrong, so she also drinks, and smokes just like her friends do. Sammy doesn’t know what  to do she keeps dying and waking up on the same day. She is in a situation in the story where she is confused and furious, about what is happening she can’t even tell her parents about whats going on without  them sending her to a mental hospital.

    This book relates to my life by Sammy being a follower, I am a follower I will not lie. But like Sammy she does the bad things that her friends do like drink, and smoke. If one of my friends were doing that I would never! underage drink, or smoke. I only follow the good ideas that my friends do like possibly study a different way, or what good books they read. Another part of the book that relates to my life is when Sammy started to make new friends, after she understood that her friends that she has now are bad influences for her. And when I came to Asa Clark I had to make new friends to.

    My main character changes so much through the book, she realizes that she keeps waking up and dying because the “spirit world” is trying to tell her to change her ways. Like being kind, and friendly to everyone not just specific people that she is close to. At the end of the book she ends up having a totally different attitude, with everything she stops drinking, and  smoking and stands up to her old friends.

Before I Fall is a book that helps you understand to respect yourself, and to help you choose the right things to do. Always try to be a leader, not a follower.
